SCOTT COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

He spent more than 20-years working in the Scott County School District, now former employee David Lee Prestage is facing sexual battery charges.

Prestage, who is a school bus driver and cafeteria manager for the Scott County School District, is out on bond.

"I think he needs to be fired and if he is convicted of the crime he needs to go to jail," said Perry Lewis. "If it were me and I was convicted they would send me to jail."

Scott County School District Superintendent Dr. Tony McGee said Prestage worked within the school district for more than 20 years until he put in his resignation Monday. Members of the community are shocked by the allegations.

"If he's guilty of doing something to other children and he gets away with it he will try it again," said Georgia Lewis. "If it's not a minor, I still say he should go to jail. I wouldn't want to work with an employee that would sexually abuse me. So, you have to be professional."

Morton Police made the arrest, but have not released any information on the age of the victim or the circumstances surrounding the charges.

"If he committed the crime, he should do the time," added Perry Lewis.

No word on when Prestage will appear before a judge.
