Habitat for Humanity's first tobacco-free home

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A smoke-free home is going up in the the Capital City. Habitat for Humanity and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Mississippi have teamed up to build Habitat's first tobacco-free home.

The home is being built on Smith Robinson Street in Jackson for Bonita Johnson and her three sons. The family has committed not to allow smoking in the home. The mom of three says she's excited about becoming a homeowner. 

"This is my first time having a new home. I have never had a new home built from the the ground up. It's just more overwhelming that anything ," says Johnson.

From here on out, all future Habitat and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Mississippi homes will be designated tobacco-free.
