Councilman Kenneth Stokes is pushing for city officials to address what he calls a growing violence problem in Jackson.
Stokes spoke at the 'Unity in the Community' event, held Sunday at Black's Food Market.
He also touched on roadway problems through out the city.
The councilman said efforts to repair damaged roadways should be a shared responsibility with the county.
He plans to raise the issue at the next city council meeting.
