Two abused and neglected dogs were left at the Animal Rescue Fund shelter on Mayes Street, in Jackson on Tuesday afternoon.
The dogs were placed in a cardboard box that was sealed shut with duct tape and left at the gate right in front of the shelter.
The owner of the rescue, Pippa Jackson, wrote on Facebook, "I rarely cry anymore. I have seen so much abuse and suffering over the years. When abuse or neglect is placed before me, I roll up my sleeves and get busy."
"But today, i cried," Jackson continued, and went on to express her anger over the lack of protection laws she says Mississippi needs for animals.
ARF says it needs donations to care for these dogs and nurse them back to health.
