FLASHBACK to MAY 2, 1987: The first "Jubilee!JAM" arts and music festival gets underway in downtown Jackson.

It started small, but it still had lots of good music and food. There was also a heavy dose of rain that first year, so the crowds were a bit thin. The main stage was set up in what was once green space next to One Jackson Place at the northwest corner of Capitol and Lamar streets (where the Pinnacle office building now stands).

Jubilee!JAM grew over the next couple of decades, attracting huge crowds and big names in the recording industry. It moved to a new location after construction began on the Pinnacle, and it was scaled down in size. Now it's just a fond memory for locals who once enjoyed the outdoor weekend festival. The last Jubilee!JAM was in 2009.
