Three dead in Natchez Trace accident

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

On Friday, the Natchez Trace Parkway Communications Center received notification of a collision that had occurred between a pickup truck and two motorcycles near milepost 47, just south of the Rocky Springs Campground.

U.S. Park Rangers, Claiborne County EMS, the Claiborne County Sheriff's Office and the Claiborne County Coroner responded to the scene. 

Upon arrival of medical personnel, the two motorcycle riders, both residents of Kenton County, Kentucky, and one occupant of the pickup truck, a resident of Vicksburg, were pronounced dead at the scene.     

46-year-old Christopher H. Koestler, of Vicksburg, 66-year-old Jan P. Elliott, of Covington, Kentucky, and 65-year-old Joseph E. Park, of Lakeside Park, Kentucky are the victims.

A second occupant of the pickup truck was flown to the University Medical Center in Jackson for care. 

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
