JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A tip from a Jackson hotel owner paid off. The Hinds County Sheriff's Department worked overtime Tuesday night on an undercover prostitution bust.

Women with criminal records and drugs were busted. One woman had recently been released from the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

"The charges range from soliciting of prostitution, possession of controlled substance, possession of crystal meth and also one was wanted by Brandon PD; there was a warrant on file," said Sheriff Victor Mason.

The task force set up a sting operation after women solicited their services on the internet. Deputies called the women, then went in for the raid.

The Sheriff warned, he will also go after those who call the call girls.

"We want the public to beware we can't take one to jail unless we take the  other so we are going after johns and johna's," added Mason. "The people involved described themselves and advertised themselves as escorts on the internet."

According to the Sheriff the sting operation was successful. Undercover agents seized a felony amount of crystal meth, pot, and controlled substances; one reason why the Sheriff resurrected the street crimes task force.

"If you have prostitution, you have drugs. if you have drugs, you have guns, you have both of those, you have a lot of illegal activity which brings the value down. So we are doing all we can to curb that."

The location of the hotel was not disclosed.
