JPS honors top students in Salute to Scholars

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Academic standouts from 7 Jackson high schools were honored Thursday night. The 36th Annual Salute to Scholars was held at Murrah High School. 

It was also signing day for the students who plan to attend 19 different colleges and universities in this state and around the country.

"In addition to recognizing the Top 10 Scholars in the District, we are also recognizing their commitment to further their education and sign up and connect with colleges and universities in and around the metro or as far as Alabama State University," said Rosaline McCoy, President of the Jackson Council PTA/PTSA.

The principals of each high school presented certificates to the top ten honorees. Seventy students were recognized for their academic achievement.
