JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Monday is the start of National Police Week.

The week is set aside to celebrate police officers and remember those who have died serving.

Members of the Mississippi Highway Patrol Honor Guard spent part of the morning preparing for Tuesday's 6th Annual Mississippi Fallen Law Enforcement Officer's Candlelight Vigil."

The memorial will take place between the Sillers and Gartin Justice buildings off High Street in downtown Jackson at 6:30 P.M.

The Statewide Fallen Officers Memorial wall now includes the names of the six Mississippians killed in the line of duty in 2015.

"We respect them to the highest honor. We respect their family and we also appreciate the support that the public gives us. You know it's a tough situation everyday, but it is like a calling. We want to do our job. We want to help the state we want to help the people in our community, so we like doing what we do," says Trooper Eric Henry with the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

On Tuesday at 10 A.M. the Department of Public Safety and Mississippi Highway Patrol will hold a memorial for officers, including a special tribute to Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics Agent Lee Tartt. Agent Tartt was shot and killed in February.
