JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson police believe they have recovered a stolen van used in two overnight burglaries, which officials believe are connected.

Police responding to a burglary at the Walgreens on Meadowbrook Road early Thursday morning and found the front doors broken down.

Commander Tyree Jones said, "The business had been severely damaged. During the course of that investigation, it was also discovered the ATM machine had been stolen from the business."

During their investigation, they found another ATM theft was attempted at the Madison Walgreens on Highland Colony Parkway at around 3:45 in the morning. It was all captured on surveillance cameras.

The video showed that the burglars tried to tie a chain from their stolen van around the ATM.

"There are possible 2-3 suspects," said Commander Jones. "Their faces and hands were covered during both incidents. They seem to be professional. They seem to be eager about whatever they're trying to do as far as stealing the ATM machines and burglarizing the business as well."

In the surveillance video, it appears the burglars can't get the chain all the way around the ATM, and end up fleeing into the night, only to hit the Jackson Walgreens later, according to police.

Thursday afternoon, the van used in the burglaries that was stolen out of Ridgeland was found in Madison, Louisiana which is just over 60 miles from Jackson.

Local law enforcement officials are in Louisiana processing the van and trying to find clues to lead them to those responsible.
