One Forest Hill senior has overcome enormous odds and will be able to walk with her graduating class on Tuesday, despite all of her challenges.
Mikayla Whitfield has suffered from many serious health issues since the age of 9. She suffers from severe seizures, which have even baffled doctors.
One type she suffers from are called "running seizures", where she actually runs in the middle of the seizure. She also suffers from episodes where she passes out and her mother has to get her heart started again.
When Mikayla got sick, her mother, Caroline, quit her job and dedicated her life to caring for her daughter. Although Mikayla completed all of her school work at home, she has been determined to excel in spite of her health issues.
She is walking in graduation at the Mississippi Coliseum at 2 p.m.
We will have more on Mikayla's graduation ceremony on our evening newscast.
