An attorney is traveling across Mississippi with one message, vaping is safer than cigarette smoking.
Gregory Conley, President of the American Vaping Association, says there is a misperception that vapor and e-cigarettes are just as harmful as tobacco cigarettes.
Conley said, on the contrary, the international public health community reports vaping is at least 95-percent less hazardous than smoking and it helps smokers quit.
Gregory Conley said,
"Unfortunately, here in Jackson, the Mississippi Department of Health is doing nothing to correct these misperceptions," said Conley. "As we cover in our show, the Mississippi Department of Health is actually a part of the problem. They're spreading misinformation to vaping about two Mississippi citizens. That is harmful to public health and it continues people down the path of smoking until they die."
Mississippi has one of the highest adult smoking rates in the country at 23-percent.Tour stops included Martin's Restaurant in Jackson this evening.
The E Cig Tour will visit five other major cities in the state, ending in Columbus on Saturday.
