A Hinds County inmate who escaped from the Hinds County Work Center Saturday, is now back in custody.
Hinds County Sheriff Victor Mason said 27-year-old Martez Lamar Williams was taken back into custody around 6:30 a.m. Sunday.
Mason said a JPD officer spotted Williams near Valley Street and Highway 80 and arrested him.
Williams is currently in the Raymond Detention Center.
Sheriff Mason said Williams had ended work in the car wash detail around 2:30 p.m. Saturday when a deputy discovered he had a cell phone during pat down.
Williams reportedly ran out a door and was last seen heading toward Highway 80.
Mason said Williams had only three weeks before his release and his escape could add one to five years to his sentence.
Saturday Hinds deputies, along with Metro One and Raymond Police searched for Williams.
Sheriff Mason said Williams' original charges included panhandling and trespassing.
