MCCOMB, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The investigation continues in McComb after a man died during a bar fight.

25-year-old Shaun Wallace of Bogue Chitto was hit in the head during the fight at the Upper Deck Sports bar on Memorial Day night.

Police are now searching for the person or persons involved.

Those who frequent the bar said that it's usually a safe place.

One McComb resident was shocked when they heard the news, saying, “When I woke up this morning and saw it on Facebook I thought it was a lie."

“You think at the sports bar there would be heavy security there wouldn't be activities like that,” said another resident.

Witnesses told police it all started as an argument between several people at the bar, leading to a man hitting Wallace in the head.

Police said he was unresponsive after the fight and later died.

“I have seen him in there, but I don't know him," a McComb business owner said. "I am sorry that happened. I feel sorry for the family and everything. It is just getting wild."

While police have not released a motive or what caused the fight, folks in the community believe the deadly brawl started over something senseless.

“They were arguing over a pool game, it escalated and the man lost his life," the business owner said. "Sometimes, like I said before, it is best to walk away.”

The victim's body has been transported to the state crime lab for an autopsy.

Police said they need to know if Wallace had any pre-existing medical conditions that could have contributed to his death.
