Many are excited about Tuesday's groundbreaking for the Grants Ferry Parkway.
Brandon mayor Butch Lee says his city is bursting at the seams with an eight percent growth rate.
The parkway will connect Highway 80 to Highway 471.
Developers are initially footing the bill for the project, but the city of Brandon will issue TIFF bonds to repay 90-percent of the $200 million project.
Grants Ferry Parkway will be considered a public highway.
"It'll be about three miles long and it will, first of all, allow for some commercial development near Highway 80 and I-20," Developer Tom Cook said. "And secondly it will allow for some residential development north of the railroad around the Cornerstone subdivision area."
Mayor Lee expects the project to be completed in about two years.
