JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The front doors to the Jasco convenience store, on Woodrow Wilson Avenue, look like they were blown off.

Instead police say it was thieves, using the same tactics that others used to steal metro ATMs in the past month.

"They got like a big chain, to break the first door, then the second door trying to take the ATM machine, but they couldn't get it, but there's a lot of mess they did here," said store manager, Lucky Singh.

The burglary at the Jasco is now the fourth attempted ATM theft in the metro.

The Walgreens in Madison, where they couldn't get the ATM last month, was the first.

They later went on to hit the Walgreens on Meadowbrook Road, the same morning, where they took off with the ATM.

Then there was the June 8 heist at the West Express Quick Stop gas station on Fortification Street.

Police say, in two of the cases, the thieves got away with thousands of dollars.

"It's a big crime," said Singh. "They need to be stopped because it's the third time it has happened in a month, so they need to stop it," said Singh.

Police say it's too early to say if the crimes are connected, but there are similarities.

Trucks or vans are often stolen, and then used in these crimes.

Store owners are now having to repair and shore up their businesses, hoping the thieves are caught, before they strike again.

Anyone with information about the crimes is asked to call Crimestoppers at 601-355-8477.
