A 7-year-old Tupelo girl is winning praise for fast, calm actions that are believed to have saved her mother's life.
Zoie Beaster called 911, after her mother passed out at their home one morning in May.
Zoie followed the dispatcher's instructions - rolling her mother Cassie on her back, pressing down on her forehead and lifting her neck to clear the airway. On a recording of the call, Cassie can be heard gasping for breath seconds later.
The Lee County Communications Staff on Thursday presented Zoie with a plaque and a gift bag to honor her actions.
