VICKSBURG, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Just one more day until the first round of preliminary competition at the Miss Mississippi Pageant in Vicksburg.

Miss Mississippi Hannah Roberts was first runner up to Miss America and all 44 contestants agree they have some tough shoes to fill.

It was all about the shoes at the Annual Parade of Contestants Monday night in Vicksburg. Roberts showed off the shoes she wore during the Miss America Parade on the Atlantic City Boardwalk.

Roberts joined the 44 contestants in the annual parade in downtown Vicksburg.  This is a highlight of the week when contestants can kick up their heels.  But as rehearsals and judges interviews continue each day, there are only four days left until the new Miss Mississippi is crowned.

"I'm always up for a good challenge, but it was also such a prideful moment for me to see Hannah get first alternate at Miss America," said Ivey Swan, Miss Leaf River Valley. "I mean to be a runner up to the first alternate at Miss America was an incredible feeling as well."

"Being able to have this opportunity is something that's a lot fun but at the same time it's something that's challenging and it pushes me to work so that's one of the many reasons that I love it," said Meredith Thomas, Miss Mississippi State University.

Winners will be announced in talent and swimwear Wednesday night. Laura Lee Lewis Miss Dixie will be singing, Meredith Thomas Miss Mississippi State will play piano.
