One of two capital murder suspects who escaped from the Hinds County Jail early Thursday morning has been captured. Sheriff Victor Mason says Gerome Montreal Moore is back in custody.
Earlier Thursday, Mason gold us Moore and Malcolm Jamal Landfair escaped by digging through a brick wall. They were discovered missing just before daylight Thursday and were last seen during a routine head count at 4 a.m.
Moore had a history of escape. Back in May 2015, he and two other inmates escaped Jackson's downtown detention center.
Landfair, who is still at large, has ties to the Jackson area.
Sheriff Mason says the jail is not up to standards.
The Hinds County Sheriff's Office says they accept full responsibility for this incident and are doing everything in their power to apprehend the escapees.
