NEW ORLEANS (WLBT, NOLA.com) - Tragic news for Alcorn State as former wide receiver, Tollette George, was killed in New Orleans.
George was the victim of a deadly shooting in Algiers, Friday. According to New Orleans Police, George had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene.
George was a New Orleans native, shining at Edna Karr before attending Alcorn State. He graduated in May.
"Tonka" played five seasons for the Braves, helping the team win back-to-back SWAC championships. George led Alcorn in receiving in 2013. He had 3 receiving touchdowns in 2015, including the game tying touchdown in the Celebration Bowl.
Current and former Braves have reacted to George's death on social media.
Marquis Warford tweeted "Rest easy bro! Enjoyed every moment out there with you! Watch over me like always."
