A federal judge is again delaying sentencing for former Mississippi Corrections Commissioner Christopher Epps and Brandon businessman Cecil McCrory.
The two men pleaded guilty to charges related to a bribery scheme more than a year ago but prosecutors want to recommend a sentence based on how much "net monetary benefit" was derived by companies contracting with the state prison system.
Using such a recommendation could result in longer prison sentences for the men but defense lawyers Monday told U.S. District Judge Henry T. Wingate they need more time to review documents submitted to decide whether they'll question the accuracy of the companies' figures.
Wingate says he's delaying sentencing for at least a month.
Meanwhile, prosecutors say up to 10 more indictments in the case will be unsealed July 25.
