WARREN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

According to Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace, three people are in custody in connection with a deadly shooting at a gas station over the weekend that left one man dead and three injured.

Deputy Coroner Kelda Bailess identified the victim as 22-year-old Jerome Rankin.

The shooting happened around 2:15 a.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the Kangaroo Express convenience store on Clay Street, near the intersection of Highway 27 and Highway 80.

Pace says it appears a large crowd left a Vicksburg night club and then went to the Kangaroo parking lot. We're told a fight broke out and four unidentified men, ages 20-27 were shot.

"It is very disturbing that these people would act in such disregard for the people who were at the gas station at the time of the shootings," Sheriff Pace said.

The victims were taken to River Regions Medical Center in Vicksburg and transported to UMMC.

We're told the other three have serious injuries that don't appear life-threatening.

Sheriff Pace says several people related to the shooting have been questioned and detained, but no formal charges have been filed.

This investigation is still ongoing and authorities expect to detain more people.

Officials ask that you call Crimestoppers at 601-355-TIPS or the Warren County Sheriff's Office at 601-636-1761, if you have any information that can help investigators.
