JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Monday night from 7 until 9, WLBT will air a special program, Louisiana Rising. Raycom Media, our parent company, will present the Labor Day concert from 7-9 p.m.

Randy Jackson and Harry Connick Jr will co-host the show that will benefit victims of recent South Louisiana floods. Some great musicians with Louisiana roots have signed up to perform.

The August floods are responsible for the deaths of 13 people and damage to more than 60,000 homes. At least 100,000 people need assistance.

Thousands are living in shelters and early damage estimates reach $20-billion. The American Red Cross says the disaster in Louisiana is the worst to hit the United States since Superstorm Sandy, which devastated the Northeast in 2012.

Raycom Media owns WAFB, the CBS affiliate in Baton Rouge, so we have seen the impact up close and personal.

"As broadcasters, we have a responsibility to help people of the areas we serve," said Raycom Media Group Vice President Sandy Breland. "So many people are hurting, right now. And they have lost so much, our hope is that this concert can help raise money for them to rebuild their lives.”

Consider This:

The people who are affected need our assistance. It’s very easy to help. Monday night at 7 pm make sure your TV is tuned to WLBT. Watch the show. Enjoy the music. Make a donation.
