MADISON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A barn raising took place on Wednesday in Madison.

Dozens of people came out to Highway 22 in Madison County to watch a barn from the 1800's go up before their eyes. Work crews are breathing new life into a structure that is more than 200 years old.

Business owner Tori Banks and her family watched in awe as this historic timber framed barn from Canada took shape on their new property.

"Back then when they put this together they used horses and manpower to put these big beams across here. Now, obviously we use a crane. It was a challenge back then and it just brings back that era and time frame," said Banks.

The goal is to transform the structure into a wedding and event venue called Bridlewood of Madison.

"It just something different than what everyone else is doing."

Heritage Restorations is the lead team over this is a more than $2 million project. While it took three weeks to restore it will take only three days to erect it.

"First thing you do is pressure wash it, do any customer modifications and then fit every joint in our yard and fumigate it, put it under a tarp and kill all bugs and eggs," said Forman Seth Dumont.

The wedding and event venue will be ready for customers in March 2017.
