Third suspect arrested in murder of McComb man, one still at large

PIKE COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A third suspect has been arrested in the brutal murder of a McComb man found in the Bogue Chitto River.

According to Chief Investigator Greg Martin, 25-year-old Exxavion Reed was arrested by a U.S. Marshal Task Force in St. Tammany Parrish in Louisiana. He is being held until his extradition hearing before being released to the Pike County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities are still searching for 26-year-old Jeremy "Jeezy" Douglas McElvin.

25-year-old Anthony J. Dauden and 26-year-old Bridget A. Dillon were arrested nearly a week ago in connection with the case. They had their initial appearance in court on Tuesday where a judge set bond at $500,000 for both suspects.

The couple is charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder involving the death of 29-year-old Cort Gatlin, their one time friend. 

Gatlin's body was found in the Bogue Chitto River on September 1. His family said he had been beaten, bound with duct tape, shot, burned and then thrown into the river.
