JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The 2016 Improving Birth Rally and Family Expo is happening tomorrow at Duling Hall in Jackson.

This event is put on by Improving Birth, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. Their mission is to bring respectful, evidence-based care to childbirth.

The purpose of this event is to bring attention to the need for access to vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC) in local hospitals. This group says that women in the United States are being forced into cesarean surgery without respect to evidence-based practices, patient autonomy in decision-making, and the legal right to informed consent and refusal.

The event will start at 10 a.m. and end at 2 p.m at 622 Duling Ave. in Jackson.

The event is sponsored by over 25 local businesses and non-profits.

Maternity, baby, and family-focused vendors will feature products such as adult and children’s clothing and accessories, children’s books, trendy utility bags and totes, herbal remedies, natural cleaning products, custom vinyl printing, and on-site massages from a professional massage therapist.

Other organizations and professionals will be on site to discuss an array of parenting and baby-related topics such as doula care, chiropractor services, breastfeeding and lactation support, pregnancy and postpartum care options, babysitting referral services, and more.

Attendees can participate in demos led by local yoga instructors and baby-wearing advocates, while kids can bounce out some energy on an inflatable jump house, have their faces painted, and enjoy other fun activities in the kid zone.

Hal & Mal’s and Pop Culture Pops will also be on site.
