JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

37-year-old Cameron Cooper, the man accused in the hit-and-run of a 13-year-old, made his initial appearance in court on Monday.

He was given a $50,000 bond. On Friday the 13-year-old was hit by a car on Greenwood Avenue.

Cooper was taken into custody Friday night, after he turned himself in at JPD headquarters. Earlier officials said Cooper intentionally hit the child in a brown Chevy suburban following an unrelated altercation.

JPD also said Cooper was wanted for two counts of aggravated assault with a motor vehicle.

A second victim, whose name is not being released, was identified by authorities. The incident is being investigated as a hit and run.

The unnamed 13-year-old is in stable condition at UMMC and is being treated for injuries.

CSI and Jackson Police were on the scene.
