JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

On your birthday, you often expect a big celebration and gifts, but one Jackson college student threw a party for the homeless instead.

Yasmine Glover started the We ACT movement, which stands for "When Everyone Acts, Change Transpires".

Saturday, she fed the homeless in Poindexter Park.

The Ole Miss student turns 23-years-old Thursday, and says she wants to use her birthday to give back to the community.

Every year, she said she gets showered with gifts and she wanted to shower others.

Glover received assistance from Stewpot and the Oxford community to feet about 125 people.

"The goal was just to get my friends, my family , everyone that I could in the community involved," said Glover. "You know so that we can make a change within the community and just do our best just to put a smile on others faces".

Glover hopes to have a bigger party for the homeless on her birthday next year and encourages others to follow her lead.
