Trial begins for suspect charged in Belhaven murder

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Trial is expected to begin Monday morning for Gerome Moore at the Hinds County Courthouse.

Moore is charged with capital murder in the 2015 death of 69-year-old Carolyn Temple.

Temple was robbed and shot in the driveway of a friends house on Euclid Street in the Belhaven area. She was taken to the hospital after she was shot in the stomach where she later died.

Jackson Police later arrested Moore and two other teens, Antreal Jones and Antwain Dukes, in connection with her death and in connection with a string of other carjackings and house burglaries across the city. Earlier this year, 18-year-old Dukes was sentenced to 25-years for his role in Temples murder.

Today, Moore faces a judge. Moore is currently serving a five years after being convicted of ESCAPING from the Hinds County jail.
