MSDH confirms two more residents infected with West Nile, Zika

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Mississippi State Department of Health confirms one new case of West Nile virus and one new travel related case of Zika.

So far the state total for WNV is up to 20 and for Zika the total is at 21.

The reported WNV case is in Lincoln County and the new Zika case is in a resident of Warren County that recently traveled to Puerto Rico.

So far this year, human cases of WNV have been reported in Calhoun, Chickasaw, Copiah (2), Hinds (6), Grenada, Lamar (2), Lee, Leflore, Lincoln, Lowndes, Marion, Perry and Rankin counties. There has been one WNV death reported in a Hinds County resident.
