There were food samples plus fine wine, craft beer and spirits tastings all to benefit the Mississippi Burn Foundation's first annual Fire and Ice fundraiser.

"The funds raised here go to build a burn survivor family home across the street from the burn center which is located at Merit Health Central," said Amanda Fontaine, Executive Director of the Mississippi Burn Foundation

WLBT's own Joy Redmond is emcee for this inaugural event.

There was also a silent auction and the unveiling of the 2017 Mississippi Burn Foundation's "Heroes From the Heart" calendar featuring firefighters from across the Magnolia State.

The burn center has roughly 750 outpatients and expects to treat about 1200 inpatients. The money raised from this event will help families with travel and other expenses.
