RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A home invasion investigation is underway in Ridgeland.

The homeowners were not injured, but police need help finding the armed men who forced their way in when the owner was on his way to work.

"I came out and there were five police cars outside," said Wendover Drive resident, Shane Dejong.

On Monday morning, Dejong and his children walked past his neighbor's home around the time Ridgeland police said two men were inside holding the residents at gunpoint. It happened sometime after 7 a.m. across the street from his home.

"We're exceptionally concerned, because we leave the garage door open. We've never had any issues whatsoever," said Dejong. "Everybody knows everybody around. So if there's anyone strange you notice it."

Investigators said the suspects forced the homeowner into the house where his wife was sleeping.

"Once they got back inside, they placed a pillowcase over the wife's head and forced her on the ground while they ransacked the house," said Ridgeland Police Chief John Neal. "They were looking for any kind of valuables as far as money or jewelry or anything like that".

Ridgeland police are asking residents for surveillance video and any information. The suspects were only described as black males wearing bandannas on their faces, one about six feet tall, the other about 5'9". There was no vehicle description.

"Bizarre, I don't understand it because I didn't hear anything," added Dejong. "There was no shouting, no fast driving of cars or screeching of tires or anything."

"This gentleman had his garage door cracked just a little bit," added Chief Neal. "We think that they took advantage of that".

Please call Ridgeland Police at 601-856-2121 if you have any information about this crime.
