Removing lead from your water can be simple

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The City of Jackson said a corrosion control study is underway regarding lead in water. In recent months there have been concerns with lead in water. Residents were concerned with corrosion at individual homes due to older and corroded pipes.

Replacing old pipes can be costly, totaling thousands of dollars. Roto-Rooter specialist Devin Berlin took a look at what you can do to make sure you are drinking clean water and saving money.

"Another more cost efficient solution if you want to get something such as a water filter for underneath your sink. This is a more cost effective solution. Filters need to changed every year," said Berlin. "This can go under your kitchen sink and if you want to get water filters in your bathroom or other areas of your house you can put in a whole home water filtration unit to filter everything. If you want something a little better than a carbon filter there is also reverse osmosis filter which will give you bottled water quality water."

The City of Jackson says the initial demonstration study will last a minimum of 6 months.
