Mississippi has some talented students when it comes to the field of technology. Massachusetts Institute of Technology apparently recognizes that, so M-I-T sent the assistant director of admissions to Jackson Prep Thursday evening, for an admissions event.
Tim Hickey-Leclair told 3 On Your Side that many of Mississippi's tech students tend to stay in the Magnolia State for their college career.
"So, we've not had many students from the Mississippi area come to MIT," he continued. "We're delighted to start expanding into this area to get more of the qualified students to consider a place like MIT, uh, and I think there's a lot to be gained."
Other metro area schools were invited to attend the evening session.
The only other chance to attend an M-I-T admissions event would be to travel to Cambridge.
