JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson State University has now confirmed that a body was found in a men's dorm on campus at around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

According to Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham Stewart, 23-year-old Benjamin Sabine was found in his apartment-style dorm, Campbell Suites, on campus. The coroner believes his death could be drug-related.

She also says he appeared to have been dead for several days.

"I was in Campbell myself on Sunday, so four days I'm surprised nobody would have noticed a smell or something," Justin Bonds, a JSU Junior said.

His definite cause of death is pending an autopsy.

"He was a great person, he always spoke to me, always paid attention in class. Always had great grades," said Deangelo Reddle, a classmate of Sabine.

The school released the following statement.

Original reports of the death were reported by students, who said a crime scene unit was called by school officials overnight. The school originally confirmed that there was "an incident" but would not specify what this incident was.  JSU officials confirms they do not suspect foul play in his death.

On social media, students have started the hashtag #prayforJSU.

We are working to find out more details and will bring them to you as soon as possible.
