MSO goes "Bach to the Future" for JPS kids

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Music history came to the present for hundreds of Jackson Public School students.

About 1350 kids gathered at Thalia Mara Hall for "Bach to the Future", a 50-minute performance exposing kids to orchestral music from 1680 to today.

Maestro Crafton Beck played the role of scientist and inventor, using an onstage "time machine" to lead students on a music history adventure.

"This is the result of a partnership; almost 50-years of partnership, actually, from Mississippi Symphony and Jackson Public Schools," said Alex Encinas, MSO Director of Education.

Mississippi Symphony Education has a whole host of musical events including MSO's celebrated week-long summer string camp for elementary through college.
