JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The alleged hostage situation and standoff on Greenview Drive and McDowell Road is now over.

Our crew on the scene says a total of 15 people came out of the home after the ordeal. Police also found guns and drugs in the house. JPD says they cannot locate the person who allegedly held these people hostage.

It is now unclear if it was ever a hostage situation. According to police, everyone walked out of the house on their own accord.

No one has been arrested or charged.

Police and FBI agents responded to the scene at around 6 a.m. and the situation continued on for over six hours.

JPD Police Chief Lee Vance says over a dozen people were in the rooming house at the time that the alleged hostage situation began. A tenant of the house says that only 4 of the people involved actually lived there and that the rest were visitors.

Police were able to rescue all of them over several hours.

Chief Vance says the 911 call came from someone that was being held against their will inside the home. An officer responded to the address and knocked on the front door.

The suspect answered the door but immediately slammed it shut upon seeing the officer.

JPD says once the hostage claim was made they had to react as if it was a hostage situation, although at this time it is still unclear as to what actually took place at the home.

No injuries were reported.
