JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson police say a gun was found on a suspect while he was in the back of a police car after he was arrested in connection with ATM burglaries on Monday morning.

Commander Tyree Jones says somehow the gun was missed during an initial search of the suspect, identified as 36-year-old Johnny Ailes. Now police say the incident is under an administrative investigation.

The two attempted ATM thefts happened overnight at Union Station and Star Grocery. The two incidents appear to be connected.

Jackson police confirm that a security guard was held at gunpoint during the attempted ATM theft at Union Station.

According to Jackson police, weapon charges are pending against Ailes.

The Star Grocery owner said there was no cash inside the ATM that was broken into this morning.

Ailes is being charged with business burglary and being a convicted felon carrying a concealed weapon.
