28th Annual Bottom Line for Kids Benefit held in Jackson

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A group of children was left homeless by a devastating fire this summer. They lived in this Jackson shelter operated by Southern Christian Services for Children and Youth. The children made it out safely with only the clothes on their backs.

Tuesday night, the 28th Annual Bottom Line for Kids Benefit was held to try to get the agency one step closer to rebuilding the shelter and providing other services to abused, neglected and abandoned kids.

"The children are still in a temporary shelter," said Debbie Dobbins, the Executive Director of Southern Christians Services. "We are meeting now in committees with the board to decide what to do about the PALS House. They've asked for input from the staff on what they would like to see."

Long-time supporters were recognized for their service with the Hands of Providence Award.

All of the money raised from the benefit and a silent auction will be used for programs to help at risk children.

Mississippi’s First Lady Deborah Bryant also attended the benefit.
