Members of Legislative Black Caucus hear from voters

Members of the Legislative Black Caucus are hearing from voters. Thursday night at a Town Hall at the State Capitol, citizens were urged to talk one-on-one with lawmakers about the issues they should fight for in the upcoming legislative session the begins in January.

A top issue, the expansion of Medicaid and providing healthcare for all Mississippians. There is also concern about tax cuts for big business.

"We're afraid that the tax cuts may turn into a tax shift where corporate taxes are going down but sales taxes and property taxes and the like, user taxes are gonna go up on ordinary citizens," said Representative Kathy Sykes of House District 70

Sykes says members of the Legislative Black Caucus are encouraging voters to take an active role in government and speak out.
