According to victim's the family, her name is Albertredia Harris, a retired School teacher with Jackson Public Schools.

"My grandmother was the greatest of all time, she will always be the greatest of all time," said Harris's grandson, William Harper. "She still lives with me as we speak."

When Harper got the call last night that his grandmother's home was on fire, he rushed over to see if she was okay.

"When I came down here, I ran across the yard and I passed her. She was already out on the stretcher," Harper said. "She had already passed, she passed from the smoke inhalation,"

Jackson Fire investigators conducted the investigation and have classified the blaze as an accidental fire, due to improper disposal of smoking materials.

"It was just a mishap," Harper said. "She left something burning. I think they said she tried to get out through the kitchen and I think she just collapsed."

She taught countless young people during her more than 30 years in the classroom while working for Jackson Public Schools..

"All her students loved her so yes, she was the best," said Harper.

Her grandson said she will truly be missed by many in the community.
