Oxford Police found one man dead and another seriously injured in a room at the Ole Miss Motel Saturday night.

At this time, officials are not saying what they believe happened, but the injured man is being held by police. Police say investigators are working on the details of the criminal charges that are pending.

Around 8:30 p.m. police received a 911 call about a welfare concern at the motel on University Avenue.

Police say when they arrived, they found the body of 39-year-old Henry Chandler Jenkins of Lafayette County. Coroner Rocky Kennedy pronounced him dead at the motel.

Authorities also found 52-year-old Donald Ludie Lassiter of Pennington, Alabama, in the same room. Lassiter was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital in north Mississippi to be treated for his injuries. Officers have not revealed what injuries he suffered.
