CLAIBORNE COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Sunday water system officials in Claiborne County notified the Mississippi State Department of Health of a pressure loss due to one or more line breaks.

The Pattison W/A-West issued a boil-water alert for customers who receive their drinking water from their water supply located in Claiborne County.

This affects approximately 335 customers starting at 5079 Tillman Rd. going north to Highway 547 (including Tillman Rd., Lacashe Sub. 1, 2 & 3. Moore Rd., Pine Tree Ln. and Johnson Ln.) , Highway 547 from Tillman Rd. to Pattison. Town of Pattison. Pattison - Tillman Rd (including Brinner Rd., Nicholas Dr., Arron Waites Rd., Lela Rd. and Tillman Chapel Rd.

When a distribution system loses pressure, contaminants can siphon back into the water. Public health officials consider any system that loses pressure contaminated until tests prove otherwise.

Health officials strongly recommend that all water be boiled vigorously for one minute before it is consumed.

The water system will be notified when tests show that the water is safe to drink.
