HINDS COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Hinds County Board of Supervisors has issued a burn ban for Hinds County due to a lack of rain and an increase of grass fires in the county.

This burn ban will be in effect from Thursday, October 6 to November 6. The burn ban will expire at midnight on the end date if no further action is needed.

This burn ban includes all recreational fire and controlled burns with the exception of commercial contractors with heavy construction equipment.

MDEQ regulations regarding open burning of brush piles require a separation distance of 1,500 feet from a resident without forced air assistance of recent wildfires.
