Week 8 of high school football is in the books and Madison Central, Pearl, Hazlehurst and Laurel are all nominees for The End Zone Play of the Week.

The End Zone Play of the Week Nominees (October 7th)

1. Jack Walker 78 yd TD pass to Myles Hopson (Madison Central)

Our first nominee is from the Game of the Week. Jack Walker drops a dime to Myles Hopson, who scoots in for a 78 yard touchdown. Madison Central handed Warren Central their first loss of 2016. Jaguars win 28-25 to move to 2-1 in 6A Region 2 play.

2. Johnny Winston TD (Pearl)

Our second nominee is from a 6A Region 3 matchup between Pearl and Terry. Johnny Winston pounded it in for a 4 yard score in the 1st quarter. He had 5 touchdowns as Pearl beats Terry 42-6.

3. Jaquaveon Tillman kickoff return TD (Hazlehurst)

Our third nominee is from the 3A ranks. Jaquaveon Tillman turned a squib kick into a scintillating highlight for Hazlehurst as he returns the kickoff for a touchdown. Indians beat Franklin County 44-7.

4. Kendall Breland TD (Laurel)

Our final nominee is a historic moment in 5A. Laurel hosted Wingfield in a Region 3 matchup. Kendall Breland usually plays tackle, but she lined up at running back in the 1st quarter. Her 1 yard TD was the first time in Mississippi high school history that a female scored a touchdown in a game. The Golden Tornadoes beat the Falcons 61-13.
