COPIAH COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Copiah County home invasion and shooting suspect is now in custody.

According to Sheriff Harold Jones, Charles Allen Knott was turned in to deputies by a family member.

Copiah County authorities, as well as other jurisdictions, were involved in a standoff with him, near the Dentville Road and Harris Road intersection on Monday.

Deputies were on the scene, executing an arrest warrant for Knott.  He was wanted for a home invasion and shooting into a vehicle late Sunday night on Highway 472.

Authorities say Knott has had run-ins with law enforcement before, so three additional deputies came along to assist with the arrest.

When Knott spotted the deputies, he barricaded himself in the house.

He was spotted in Hazlehurst earlier Monday but deputies couldn't find him. Hostage negotiators were on scene Monday night, communicating with Knott by text.

In addition to Copiah County deputies, MBI and MHP were also at the scene.

Authorities say the standoff ended at 1 a.m. when officers went inside, but Knott was no where to be found.

He is now in custody and we are waiting on further details.
