Attorney General Jim Hood says Oktibbeha County Circuit Clerk Edwin Glenn Hamilton has been formally charged for possession of methamphetamine.

60-year-old Hamilton, of Maben, was arrested on June 16 and indicted last week for one count of possession of methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance.

Hamilton was arraigned Wednesday in Oktibbeha County Circuit Court. He was released Wednesday on a $5,000 bond.

If convicted of the charge, he faces up to eight years in prison and a $50,000 fine.
