Loren Blackwell, charged with capital murder and auto theft in the 2015 death of Lee Kendrick of Pearl, has been released from jail because she is pregnant.
Blackwell has been released from the custody of the Hinds County Sheriff's Department on her own recognizance, but remains on house arrest. The judge has instructed her attorney to notify the court six weeks following the birth of the child to schedule a status conference.
24-year-old Blackwell is accused, along with Walter Lee Young, in the death of 81-year-old Lee Kendrick of Pearl. His body was found at the Cedarstone Apartments, in Jackson, September 2, 2015.
Blackwell turned herself in two days later.
According to the court filing, Blackwell is 34 weeks pregnant.
