CLINTON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Surveillance video was posted to Facebook of what appears to be an elderly woman stealing a purple mum from a Clinton business.

The business owner, Beth Shores, who posted the video, owns Paxton Peaks in Clinton. She said other business owners have contacted her, saying that they are missing plants from their businesses as well.

Shores said that a city decorations store, a dentist, a jewelry store, a vitamin shop and a salon all claim to be victims of the plant thief and several of the stores also have surveillance video.

The suspect's 17-year-old grandson commented on the Facebook video, claiming that she was his 73-year-old grandmother. He told other Facebook users that when she left the house she told him she was going to get breakfast.

"My grandmother is the one who did this," he wrote. "I confronted her about it and I'm not sure why she did it. But she didn't mean to harm anyone. She loves anything to do with a flower."

He also said that she used to work at a lawn and garden place in Clinton years ago. He said that he found pumpkins, signs and many other plants in her car when she got home.

We will have much more on this story later today.
