JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Rumors circulating that Jackson State University's president is out are being denied by the College Board.

Institution of Higher Learning Board President Dr. Doug Rouse said Wednesday that Dr. Carolyn Meyers has not been fired. It is believed that "A Message From the President" sent from Dr. Meyers may have sparked the rumors.

According to Rouse, the JSU president remains under contract and is still employed by the university.

"That has not happened. We have not, she has not been terminated nor has she retired," said Rouse. "I'm not sure where the rumors are coming from."

Meyers' contract runs through June 2019.
